The Black Women Collective began as a small community meetup in Brampton during the pandemic, where Black women gathered seeking mentorship, community, and access to resources that simply didn’t exist for them. Allison recognized that gap, and in March 2023 formalized the group into a registered Canadian not-for-profit (Reg. #765138219) built to scale that impact nationally through partnerships, education, and pathways to capital.
Today, BWC is working toward becoming Canada’s leading resource for generational wealth and business leadership among Black women, addressing the barriers of race and gender bias, limited capital access, networking gaps, caregiving responsibilities, socioeconomic disadvantage, and educational inequity, together.
